Radio Detecting and Ranging, commonly referred to as RADAR is a device which measures not only the time it takes for a pulsed signal to be reflected back from an object, but also its relative position to you.
A radar is used for the following purposes:
- collision avoidance
- navigation in darkness
- determining a ships position
- navigating to a specific location
- way point navigation
